Adventures in Vermont: Kip the Hero

Three days of continual rain, then a breath of sunshine when Kip surprised us and walked in the door. He was on his way home from India, and stopped in for a day. Klay and Kris came to spend the night as well. Finally, Sunday the sun was shining. We drove an hour to get to church and no one was there. The time on the door was the time we had arrived - we think that it might be stake conference! So back home and a walk around the pond was the biggest adventure yet! We have two Canadian geese with two babies in our pond. Our dog, Lexi, decided she wanted to go for a swim and kept chasing them in the water. After much pleading, Lexi would not get out. She was fixated on those birds and would not listen to all of us yelling at her to leave them alone. Nicole was in tears. It was obvioius that she was getting tired, and obvious that we were not getting through to her. Kip was still dressed in his Sunday clothes, but from across the pond, I could see him take off his watch, and empty his pockets and handing it to Klay. Off came his shirt and before I knew it, he jumped in the water and swam after Lexi and brought her to shore! Lexi had a long "time-out" for not listening. Hopefully there will be no repeats, because I am not about to go in the pond after her!
